Hi, Melinda – that’s a great question! Drawing on your personal experiences is likely a great place to start. You might also reach out to other support group leaders for guidance and advice. You might find some helpful places to start in this article: https://birthmotherthoughts.com/life-after-adoption/birth-parent-support-groups-and-resources/

I’m a (former) adoption professional, as well as a birthmom, and adoptive parent. I just had the opportunity to talk with a woman who placed her son in adoption 50 years ago. She is bitter, angry, hurt, and still traumatized. I was hoping to locate a support group to present to her at some time in the future, but there is nothing in my area. Hmmm…
You have given me food for thought.
